Northern Baptist Theological Seminary scores 780 — these providers rank higher on Verdica's composite trust score.
The Verdica score is a composite trust score from 300 to 850, computed from accreditation status, Title IV outcomes, and IPEDS data maintained by accreditors and the Department of Education. A score of 780 places Northern Baptist Theological Seminary in IL in the strong (740–799) band. The score reflects publicly available regulator data — it is not a rating from Verdica itself and does not incorporate paid reviews or advertising.
Verdica combines three weighted sub-scores drawn from accreditors and the Department of Education. Each sub-score reflects a different dimension of education compliance — accreditation standing, graduation and default rates, and financial responsibility — and is normalized against industry peers before being aggregated to the 300–850 scale.
Verdica pulls public records from accreditors and the Department of Education: accreditation status, Title IV outcomes, and IPEDS data. Data is refreshed on rolling cycles, typically weekly to monthly depending on the source agency's own update schedule. See the "source data current" indicator on the entity page for the last successful refresh.

Northern is a wonderful seminary. My husband (Class of ’99) and his father (Class of ’69) are both graduates of the MDiv program, and I’ve had the privilege of studying here myself over the past year. Whether in online classes or in-person intensive courses, the experience has been rich and engaging. We are digging deeply into the Bible, and being equipped to faithfully follow Jesus as we serve His people and the world.
This School has helped to shape my view on the Bible and how it applies to my life and this world!
Incredible seminary with professors experienced in ministry, dedicated to challenging assumptions and preparing leaders to witness Christ and participate in the building of Christ's Kingdom in a changing world, ready to face and address the issues happening on the ground. Especially good for those looking for an option for impactful training without requiring a change of residency.
Folks here are unbelievably hospitable, and they made my transition into seminary a breeze. Many of my classmates are out of state (and they love it), but I'd lobby even harder for local folks like me to attend since we can engage face-to-face with the staff. In terms of education, it's not just about head knowledge or mastery of material - the faculty cares a great deal about translating ideas to the local church and addressing the pressing cultural issues of our time. Learning at Northern hasn't just made me smarter, but it has made me a MUCH better minister of the Gospel and a MUCH better shepherd of the folks in my church.
A fantastic seminary that goes beyond solid biblical training (which they do) to challenge leaders to think about how the Church ought to engage culture as a faithful and compelling witness to the Kingdom of God.
I am so grateful for Northern Seminary! As a woman in ministry, I feel celebrated and championed in my calling. The professors and staff truly care for their students—challenging our thinking, listening with genuine curiosity, and equipping us to live and lead with purpose and courage. I especially value how Northern engages the pressing issues of our time with compassion and incarnational listening, teaching us to engage culture thoughtfully and faithfully. This attracts a wide variety of students from different cultures and denominations and creates a safe space for honest dialogue. I'm from out of state so I am mostly online, but I just came for an intensive and was blown away by the hospitality of the staff and my classmates. Get ready to make some fast friends! Northern is truly a place of sharpening and renewal, where you can recalibrate your call and ministry.
If you are trying to faithfully lead churches in the midst of massive cultural change and are looking for theological training to help you do it, Northern Seminary is the place to be! Some of the foremost scholars in biblical and theological studies are teaching and shaping the next generation of church leaders and you could be one of them!
