HEARTLAND MOTOR COACH INC scores 813 — these providers rank higher on Verdica's composite trust score.
The Verdica score is a composite trust score from 300 to 850, computed from safety inspection records and BASIC scores maintained by the FMCSA. A score of 813 places HEARTLAND MOTOR COACH INC in KS in the excellent (800–850) band. The score reflects publicly available regulator data — it is not a rating from Verdica itself and does not incorporate paid reviews or advertising.
Verdica combines three weighted sub-scores drawn from the FMCSA. Each sub-score reflects a different dimension of trucking compliance — operating authority, crash indicator, driver fitness, and vehicle maintenance — and is normalized against industry peers before being aggregated to the 300–850 scale.
Verdica pulls public records from the FMCSA: safety inspection records and BASIC scores. Data is refreshed on rolling cycles, typically weekly to monthly depending on the source agency's own update schedule. See the "source data current" indicator on the entity page for the last successful refresh.
Common negative signals include out-of-service orders, unsatisfactory safety ratings, or BASIC alerts. Any of these appear in the underlying regulator records and pull the sub-score down; the composite reflects the weighted impact.

Unfortunately, I live in an area that connects the buses transporting people from across the metro to the FIFA Fan Fest. This afternoon, I was inches away from being run over by a Heartland Trailways charter bus while crossing the street in my residential neighborhood. The posted speed limit is 35 mph, but the driver (like many of the other charter bus drivers) was flying down the street, going least 55 mph. The driver did not to slow down or brake. Seconds later, the same driver nearly hit another pedestrian, who also had to run out of the way. I contacted Heartland Trailways and spoke with Mark, the manager on duty. Rather than taking the complaint seriously, he told me that he didn’t care because “nobody got hit.” When I asked for his name and the name of someone else at the company I could speak with on Monday, he began screaming at me and ultimately hung up. Neither I nor my neighbors should have to be hit by a massive charter bus before a serious safety concern is addressed. The behavior of both the driver and the manager was completely unacceptable. For a company that advertises safe and reliable transportation, I expected much better professionalism and a genuine concern for public safety.

Did an awesome job getting us from Missouri to Nashville and back. We went through lots of road construction, we had 4 buses and we loved Ms. Rachel (didn’t know the other drivers but they did an awesome job as well). They got us to our destinations with ease (they also took us to The Grand Ole Opry).
Great experience!!!
Brian Spencer was the driver on my trip to Colorado. He did a fabulous job taking us into some very tight spaces. He was always pleasant, helpful and ready to answer any questions. . .
Took my kid’s band on a trip. It was a literal nightmare from drivers falling asleep, over on hours, equipment breaking down, driving in circles in DC, and it was just an unpleasant trip. No apologies or refunds have been given to the families who went on this trip. Our kids were representing the state of Missouri in the Memorial Day Parade.
This review is for the holiday lights tour. I'm only giving two stars because the driver was pleasant AND on time for the pickup which was 6pm with a departure for 6:30..keep this in mind. Where my dissatisfaction comes from is when we spent 20-30 minutes going in circles around the plaza area. Now, we were notified upon pickup that Candy Cane Lane was no longer on the itinerary due to the street being too narrow for the bus. That was fine and I was fine with the tour being short because of that but to waste 30 mins going around and around to make up for it was not okay. So, now it's a little after 7pm. After that, we headed towards Union Station, it's now 7:42 when we arrived. Keep in mind it's Saturday, so the holiday things are closing up around 8pm at Union. The plan was to have 30 mins to walk around Union Station and get back on the bus...we got off the bus but there was really no reason to go inside because Holiday Reflections was wrapping up for the night and so were the other holiday related events. So had we not spent time going around and around, we might've made it in time. After about 20 mins, we got back on the bus, ready to head to the next destination. We ended up sitting for 1 hour 30 mins instead of the 30 mins we were supposed to be there. Even the other passengers were confused as to why we were still sitting after everyone was back on board. We finally take off but instead of going towards Crown Center, we're headed back to our pickup/drop off. Even though no money came out of our pockets, this was still a waste of time. We are very disappointed but I guess you get what you pay for - NOTHING. Needless to say, we won't be doing this again. My advice to anyone reading this? If you have a car, just load your family up and drive through the festive neighborhoods yourself. There's so many! And Heartland, please don't do this again next year.
They have some nice buses and they have some old buses and some of the old buses need to be phased out
