Each sub-score starts at a baseline and adjusts based on real regulatory-record signals. Zero-delta rows show what we checked and confirmed clean. “Data quality” indicates how much source data informed the score.

The Verdica score is a composite trust score from 300 to 850, computed from safety inspection records and BASIC scores maintained by the FMCSA. A score of 819 places LAKELAND BUS LINES INC in NJ in the excellent (800–850) band. The score reflects publicly available regulator data — it is not a rating from Verdica itself and does not incorporate paid reviews or advertising.
Verdica combines three weighted sub-scores drawn from the FMCSA. Each sub-score reflects a different dimension of trucking compliance — operating authority, crash indicator, driver fitness, and vehicle maintenance — and is normalized against industry peers before being aggregated to the 300–850 scale.
Verdica pulls public records from the FMCSA: safety inspection records and BASIC scores. Data is refreshed on rolling cycles, typically weekly to monthly depending on the source agency's own update schedule. See the "source data current" indicator on the entity page for the last successful refresh.
Common negative signals include out-of-service orders, unsatisfactory safety ratings, or BASIC alerts. Any of these appear in the underlying regulator records and pull the sub-score down; the composite reflects the weighted impact.

I am writing this while standing in the bus coz the driver could not say while collecting ticket that it’s standing only at Waterview Park n Ride 8/15 11:20 bus, however he did have the time to call the other bus which was standing in parking lot to go cover ahead stops coz this bus is standing only. It’s park n ride I could have driven to next bus stand to the bus, If only you have used presence of mind and consideration for the passenger who is boarding and said he thus us full do you wanna stand. I would have gladly driven the other 2 people who had to stand coz of this nonsense. This was dumb.

The drivers are friendly and the service is generally reliable. However, the lack of a mobile app for purchasing tickets is a significant inconvenience. Ticket prices have also steadily increased over time without any meaningful improvements for the rider.
Great service and fares. They get you there safe and sound! PS- senior citizens get half off tickets
⭐☆☆☆☆ I want to share a serious pattern of behavior I experienced across three separate staff members during several trips with this company: tour director Debbie Card, tour guide Lisa, and bus driver Sean. Debbie Card repeatedly crossed professional boundaries throughout multiple trips. She was condescending to me the entire time, closely monitoring my movements and narrating everything I did, when I simply wanted to be left alone. I was polite about it, but that only seemed to encourage more of the same behavior rather than less. On one trip, she put her hands on my shoulders and physically walked me through a dining room, forcing me to sit next to her and Sean, both of whom intimidated me with personal questions the entire time. When I tried to explain that I simply wanted to sit by myself and enjoy my own company, she became loud and obnoxious about it. She also made condescending remarks to my teenage daughter, criticizing her for wearing a jacket in the summer — an inappropriate and unnecessary comment from an adult in her sixties toward a young teenager who was doing nothing wrong. Tour guide Lisa was reportedly cleaning up a coffee spill nearby — I was reading my magazine and hadn't said a word or given any indication of an issue — yet she put her hands all over my legs and shoulders, patting me condescendingly as though I had caused a problem or needed to be soothed. I had to tell her directly to take her hands off me. "I didn't even say anything," and yet she still treated me as if I had. She also had a pattern of insinuating I was causing problems where none existed — for example, when I simply walked past a building, she commented, "Oh, you're trying to get in the building, are you?" as if I had done something suspicious. I later told her explicitly that she needed to be professional with me and limit our interactions to itinerary information only. Rather than respect that, she twisted the request and used it against me. From that point forward, she manufactured problems and turned the staff and other passengers against me, seemingly unable to tolerate a passenger who was simply calm and enjoying herself independently. Bus driver Sean added to this hostile environment. During the dining room incident, he was part of the intimidating personal questioning I was forced into. Separately, he commented on my appearance to other passengers, acted overly familiar as if he knew me personally, and gave me dirty, intimidating looks without provocation throughout the trip. I paid a single supplement specifically to travel independently within a group setting, and chose a group tour for the logistics and safety it's supposed to provide. Instead, I felt targeted, unsafe, and taken advantage of by the very staff meant to ensure a safe, respectful experience. I complained to the company directly, and absolutely nothing was done. Their response was essentially that if I didn't like the tour guides, I should go elsewhere — no retraining, no accountability, no real acknowledgment of the pattern. I spent a significant amount of my own hard-earned money across several trips with this company to be treated this way, and they showed no interest in fixing it. This is not a one-off bad experience — it's a pattern across three separate staff members and multiple trips that speaks to a much larger problem with how this company trains, manages, and holds its employees accountable. I would strongly caution anyone considering booking with them, especially if you value being treated with basic respect, safety, and independence.
Lakeland was great! We used them for our wedding at Perona Farms this June from the Holiday Inn Budd Lake. The buses were on time and waited for everyone to board even though we lingered for a bit after the reception. Buses were clean and let us play music from our speakers on the way home. We had a great time and would definitely recommend them to anyone getting married in the area!
I like that the buses are faster than the train. Buses are clean and get you where you need to go. Now, this past winter I was waiting for a bus and I was still new to the area. I asked a bus driver a question and he full on yelled at me and responded to me in the most annoying, sarcastic tone. In front of everyone too. Way to ruin my wonderful night out. You can’t really shake that off no matter how much fun you have that night. I called the office to complain. They told me to send an email to management which I did. Months later, no one ever called me back or emailed me. They simply don’t care. They know people will use their service regardless because there’s not many options into the city. Says a lot about a company.
Amazing people
